Year 2

In term 3 students begin the OC Preparation Course where they will focus on the three topics which are covered in the OC Entrance Test, Mathematics, Reading and Thinking Skills. This course starts in term 3 and continues until the end of term 1, Year 4.

In Term 2, students begin the Introduction to Selective and Scholarship Course, where they are introduced to advanced thinking strategies and gain a clear understanding of what’s required for success in these competitive exams. The course also introduces a variety of writing genres to help students develop strong written communication skills.

Throughout the program, students are not just taught content—they are taught how to think and how to apply their thinking skills with confidence. The goal is to nurture independent, capable learners. This course will also help student prepare for their year 5 NAPLAN test. The Introduction to Selective and Scholarship Course begins in Term 2 of Year 4 and runs through to the end of Term 1 in Year 5.

This year, students will complete the Introduction to Selective and Scholarship Course by the end of Term 1 and begin the full Selective and Scholarship Preparation Course in Term 2, continuing through to the end of Term 1 in Year 6.

The course focuses on the four key components of the Selective and Scholarship Entrance Tests: Mathematics, Reading, Writing, and Thinking Skills.

Students build a strong foundation in problem-solving and systematic thinking, while also developing advanced critical thinking skills, including both inductive and deductive reasoning.
